The club was formed in July 1993 when the Black Notley Community Association took shape following a public meeting of villagers. They wished to save the Recreation Hall and heated outdoor swimming pool from dereliction following closure from the health authority. The premises were no longer viable as a social club for staff of a hospital being run down prior to closure.
The Local Authority were persuaded to acquire the premises on the understanding a community association would be formed to take on management of activities and services.
The club has grown dramatically over the years starting with just one team in its first year (1994/5) and 3 in its second season. Now nine teams compete in the Braintree and District Table Tennis League.
The club is the largest in the league with 9 of the 24 teams being Notley based clubs. We plan to develop the club further and hope to attract sufficient juniors to form a large Junior Section with the aim being to compete in Junior competitions and against other junior teams in the area.
